The Nurse Case Manager’s primary function is to work with adjusters, employer’s, physician’s and injured workers to determine appropriate treatment for an injury at the workplace. The Nurse Case Manager assists the injured party to return to work in a safe manner during their recovery saving on unnecessary treatment and doctor visits.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Include:
- Provide Medical Case Management services to assist claimants in their medical treatment plan.
- Work with medical providers to obtain accurate disability ratings and to effectively return the injured employee back to the workforce.
- Establish relationships with medical providers and nurse case managers.
- Work closely with the claimant’s employer to ensure a safe return to work.
- Review medical reports to determine if appropriate treatment or medications are being provided.
- Determine future medical treatment needs of claimant.
- Perform utilization review.
- Review authorization requests in a timely manner
Skills and Abilities Required:
- Working knowledge of NYS Workers’ Compensation Laws preferred.
- Strong people and customer service skills.
- Solid computer skills, including but not limited to claims software programs and Microsoft Office 2010.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Superb professional, time management and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- LPN license required.
- 1 year experience handling Workers’ Compensation claims preferred
